Our marketing and communications team currently needs you. Maybe not you reading this if it’s not your type of role but you could help out by telling a friend who fits in. But before you tell a friend or apply here’s what we are looking for.
We are looking for someone that loves social media and could almost be described as Mademoiselle or Monsieur tweet-a-lot. We are looking for someone that doesn’t just join in the banter and laughs on social media but contributes to it and joins in the Gbas Gbos as well.
If you like dropping puns, sarcasm and wit on social media you will fit right into this role.
The role is an internship role so you don’t need to have prior work experience. Although you need to have a keen sense of what drives retweets, mentions and likes on social media and be able to create content for it. You should also have sweet ideas for what people would like to read and consume on social media so we can tailor our communication and content to fit that pattern.
We work primarily onsite at our office in Lagos (Lekki) from 9–5 every day, so you would have to be prepared to come to the office every day. And if you say oh, what about COVID, we are all working from home right now but we are firm believers in the human race and our ability to overcome this. So in a matter of time, we would be working from the office again seeing beautiful faces.
We always and strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds and identities to apply. With each new hire, we look to diversify, strengthen our team and be more purposeful about building our culture. On the other hand, we look to give you the opportunity to grow, do the most impactful work of your life tackling problems that matter while being happy doing it.
About the Job
If you were to coin what you would be doing at Quidax in one sentence it would be speaking to people like a human being. A simple, smart and witty human being. We want to sound like your friend, that friend that gives you gist, good laughs and once or twice you exchange harsh words with (afterall s/he is human).
You know how your bank often sounds robotic and you wonder if it’s a human that you are in contact with? And how you can always tell what they are going to say immediately after you make a complaint IS “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience” or “I have escalated it to my manager.“
That’s exactly what we don’t want. We don’t want to sound like your bank. We want to be human, natural and unexpected (mostly because everyone expects a brand/business to sound like they are taking a line from a legal document).
As the comms intern, you will be a core driver in making this happen. Are you still here? Okay!
You will be part of shaping the brand voice and personality for Quidax.
You will also be the person to spot conversations on social media that you think we should engage in. Even conversations like this that have nothing to do with Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. We frequently like to banter about the weather, TV shows and top 10 things to do when you are pretending you are working.
Here’s an example of what your day to day at Quidax might look like:
- You will be creating content for social media channels as well as responding to comments and direct messages on our social media pages
- Monitor industry-related and competitive social channels for trending news and ideas.
- Analyse insights for social media activity to drive engagement, shares and traffic to our website
- Think of ways to borrow one of the 9 lives of a cat
- Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote Quidax on various social media websites
- Think up ideas for campaigns we can run on social media e.g global cocktail day campaign, brideprice challenge or some random cool stuff.
- Support your team at events and take pictures with cool people
- Make an infographic of the best shawarma spots in Lagos. You are actually going to have to really do this one for real. Like first order of business.
It differs from day-to-day.
About You
We are a company of learners in a lot of ways. We don’t expect you to be perfect so we would prefer if you were hungry and willing to learn. We like humble people too.
We are looking for people who are driven, patient, empathetic and have an ear to what’s happening around the world with an eye for pop culture.
We are looking for the kind of person who a reader would say your tweet is trash juice (like the juice that comes out of Lawma trucks). Instead of taking offence (actually, it’s okay to vex small, we are humans) but the larger response would be to check yourself and your tweet to see where you might have gone wrong and what you can do to make it right.
We are very big on discipline as one of our core values, because we believe it is the soul of an army and it can make great things happen in the long run. So we have rules that have consequences attached to them and then we encourage everyone to govern themselves to do what is required and go over and beyond in service of our customers
We are big on openness and candour in the workplace, so if you see something that doesn’t make sense, it is your responsibility to say so. We are not afraid to disagree and argue about things so far we are doing it with the purpose of bringing out the best idea and not bringing people down.
We also like to have fun, we can look quite chilled, our interviews can be really great and funny experiences if you are not too wound up, we try to make you loosen up in the first couple of minutes and just have a conversation and not just give generic interviewy answers, we hate those. We are fans of alcohol and the parties (after work hours) so if your thing is shots, beer or both, you are in good company and we know a great catfish plug.
We are a cryptocurrency company, building to be the most influential crypto company in Africa, but it isn’t a crime to not know jack about cryptocurrency, every single person here learnt on the job and we are more than happy to teach.

We are keeping this one simple. We need to know you love social media and on a regular basis you create the kind of content we are looking for, for yourself because you can’t give what you don’t have.
Here’s an account we like:
And some tweets as well:
To apply kindly share any or all of your social media handles that you feel shows off your ability to create interesting content that people can engage with (but if we are being honest we prefer Twitter).
If we like what we see, we would be sure we will contact you. We look forward to checking out your application.
